TOMB OF THE SCULPTOR JOAN REBULL
Among the funerary modernists of the Gil Abelló family and the modernist Pratdesaba, we find another example of a secular monument: the Tomb of the sculptor Joan Rebull.
This modest monument, created by Rebull himself, features a simple stone gravestone inscribed with his name and the dates of his birth and death. Above the stone slab rests a sculpture depicting three children, nude and barefoot, who engage with visitors as part of the ensemble's overall composition. This work is known as Els tres gitanets (The Three Little Gypsies), with the central figure representing Rebull himself, extending his arms around the shoulders of the two companions beside him.
Sculpted in 1976, this piece reflects the principles of the Evolutionist group to which Rebull belonged, which particularly emphasised the rhythmic qualities found in classical art.
